how to prepare your file?

  • Export your track as a Wav or AIFF file
  • Set your Sample Rate to 44.1kHz and the Bit Rate to 24 Bits
  • Ensure there are no Plugins on the Stereo Bus
  • Set the Stereo Bus to between -6db and -10db to ensure there is sufficient headroom for me to work with
  • Go to the Mastering Made Easy WeTransfer page.
    If you are after a specific kind of sound, then feel free to upload a reference track for me to use as a guide.

The Manchester Punk scene was a big part of my life. Originally I studied art at Manchester Polytechnic and worked part time at a garage with Vini Reilly of the Durutti Column who was one of the first artists signed to Factory Records.

I later went on to work with Ian Curtis of Joy Division and introduced him to Vini. A normal weekend for me was stood shoulder to shoulder at various Manchester venues with the likes of Tony Wilson, John Cooper Clarke, The Buzzcocks and The Fall. If you’d like to read a bit more about the scene, I can recommend the book “Torn Apart” by Mick Middles in which I get a mention.
